BURLO-CBM SNP GENOTYPING SERVICE

Based on three different advanced technological platforms, Burlo CBM genotyping service can serve different research fields. The laboratory is specialised in SNP genotyping (single nucleotide polymorphism) to be used to define the genetic risk of diseases and susceptibility. As per the technological platforms used, Taqman technology is suitable for studies on a large scale of samples and with a minimum number of SNPs (associated sudies on candidated genes), whereas Illumina and Affymetrix, are platforms devoted to large scale analysis (up to 550.000 SNPs), and therefore suitable for linkage studies, fine mapping and associations. Moreover with large scale SNPs it will be possible to highlight deletions that normally cannot be noticed with common cytogenetical methodologies. The genotyping lab counts on the most advanced technological platforms and highly qualified and skilled personnel. The service Laboratory will also serve as reference for the development of customised projects on the needs of the customers and will be at disposal of public and private institutes needing gene tests and consultancies, research labs in need of know how in the genotyping field and private customers.
