CODE: COMPARATIVE GENOMICS OF DISEASE GENES
- 3 Years 2003/2006
- 121.000€ Total Award
Genome projects are generating large amounts of sequence data every day from a myriad of organisms. The CODE project aims to identify and compare disease genes in all the genomes of these organisms and provide all the analysis results to the researchers via a comprehensive web portal. Most diseases to date have been linked to a specific gene or set of genes, but despite extensive studies clear understanding of the molecular mechanics of the disease are as yet elusive and thus a cure is not yet available. CODE will enable disease researchers worldwide to gain deeper insights and better understanding of the evolution and the regulation of disease genes thus hopefully elucidating these molecular mechanisms further and getting a step closer to some of the cures.
