Tigem Behavioural Core
- 5 Years 2016/2021
- 186.073€ Total Award
The Behavioral Facility (BF) supports studies in which evaluating the neurological phenotype of mice is important in understanding experimental results. The Core aims to evaluate and identify abnormal behaviors, test the effects of pharmaceutical therapies on pathological behavioral alterations, and study the biological mechanisms which underlie behavior. The Behavioural Core is equipped with more than 30 different behavioural tasks (i.e. activity cage, elevated plus-maze, hot-plate, water maze, cross-maze, grip-strength meter, passive and active avoidance apparatus) for mice, rats and hamsters, which allow to test basic sensory-motor functions, learning and memory processes and emotional behaviours. The core personnel helps and assists researchers in the planning, execution, data analysis, data interpretation, results dissemination, and support for grant application for all behavioural and behavioural-pharmacogenetic experiments.
The "Total Award" amount indicated for this project represents the share of the funding of the Telethon Foundation for research by the Tigem institute from July 2016 until last budget year, calculated based on the size of the research group.
